You know, it's one thing to not really care about other teams, not follow them. You've always been open about that -- you care about the Edmonton Oilers. That's who you blog about. So no real harm done there.
But does that mean you feel the need to sound like an absolute clown when you post something like this: The comedy in all of this is, the Flyers had a cap issue to cope with before they acquired Streit. The player wants around $5mil per season; meaning, the Flyers cap problem is about to go from bad to worse. If you ask me, and I'm just a peasant I realize, the Flyers should be more concerned about adding young pieces to take over when the vets move on. The current average age of the D on the team is 71.
That last sentence is laughable. It's mind-blowing in its sheer ignorance, to the degree that you not only embarrass yourself, you embarrass any credibility this website has.
Before acquiring Streit, the Flyers' top 6 defensemen were Kimmo Timonen at age 38, Braydon Coburn at age 28, Nicklas Grossmann at age 27, Luke Schenn at age 23, Andrej Meszaros at age 27, and Bruno Gervais at age 28.
Their seventh defenseman is Erik Gustafsson, who is 23 years old.
Again, it's one thing to care about your team. That's fine. But there's no excuse whatsoever to be so ridiculously ignorant, it jars people from reading what you wrote because it's so blatantly incorrect.

Well, I guess people on the outside still see Pronger as part of the D core. Which he isn't, he will be here for the duration on LTIR, does that mean hes part of the dcore?
Do people still see Marc Savard as the Bruins top line center?
I can't answer these questions. |

Apparently, neither can this guy -- maybe instead of running off at the mouth all the time, he could take two seconds to actually do something called "research" if he wants to rip what a team does.
It's OK to be critical if you're accurate. It's ridiculous to be critical if you're just a wind-blowing buffoon.

He's not saying we don't need better D he's saying they could surprise people by being better then expected and its the oilers best option right now unless you wanna create another hole on the team cause the defence market is more inflated then housing markets in vancouver right now haha. |

It's too bad you guys have to suffer with this drivel. Edmonton fans are some of the most passionate in the league. It's tragic that you have a blogger who can't be bothered to give even the pretense of being accurate. |

As usual we will have to wait and see what the next couple months hold. Agree that finding a ufa top d man is highly unlikely and too over spend could be costly. However as other teams start getting desperate trades could be made. Carlson in Washington is a good example.
As it stands belov is a good risk and klefbom might push for a spot but I would be very surprised if they stopped there. |

Yeah. I have to agree. I also agree that we don't have much chance of trading for a top guy unless we steal a bad contract like Edlers from a cap problem team like Van. Still that will cost us a bit. Even as a salary dump.
I know you guys are going to hate this but the only way to help our GA is a new tender of value. I am not saying to trade Dubey but I am saying Dubey will be sharing a net.
I offer up the same suspects. Backstrom and Loungo.
Or we can stick with Belov and Klefbom/Potter. Paajarvi will probably take Hemsky's spot and our team will be hopefully not worse than last year.
I am not going to lie but I fear MacT is going to be too late to the table to get the UFA's we need. Sounds like another rebuilding year to me. |

Dude, call a spade a spade. Your team is going to have to give something up to put streit on the books. Your GM new what he was trading for in terms of cap hit so he must have a plan to use both buyouts and a trade or two. Not a bad thing, it is just the way it is. Only bad if that rookie was any good but I don't know if he is or if they can't get a deal done. But I am sure those were considered before the trigger was pulled. |

I am not worried about getting an expensive dman like Edler. I think he is too expensive for Van. Unfortunately I think both have the type of contracts we will be forced to look at to get a deal done. For us Edlers contract is a necessary evil. For Van it makes it so they can't sign enough forwards to fill 4 full lines. |

Although he never specified as much, I would imagine the plan would be to wait and see if the cannots buy him out first, and then offer him a contract. I'd be for that if it was the right term/$ |

If the Oilers traded a kid or two away and got some real goal-tending, they could contend tomorrow. Waiting and wishing and hoping for a young team to suddenly grow up and compete doesn't work; you need a mix of players on your team. |
